Model minutes: gorgeous Gigi

Check out the adorable baby pics that Gigi sent us along with a lovely Q&A into how modelling has changed her life, balancing her studies and how broccoli is probably the best thing in her world (apart from us obvs!)

What inspired you to become a model?

When I got scouted I was actually surprised so I just thought I may as well just go for it and see where it goes. I went down to the casting at J’adore, not thinking too much into it and was asked to join the team! I’ve never looked back to be honest, the J’adore team have helped so much with my growth as a model and understand the balance between my career as model and my studies. They’ve opened so many opportunities from getting me signed with Leni’s in London to having the ability to fund my studies and travel to further my career.

What were your biggest fears about joining the industry and how do you feel now?

I didn’t really struggle with fears, I entered the industry with an open mind and whatever the outcome was obviously meant to be. I can see why girls are scared about joining the industry but I would always just say to keep an open mind about it all, you never know what could happen!

What tips would you give to someone looking to start out their modelling career?

A tip for new models hoping to join the industry would to be super confident – confidence is key. Also just to be yourself, the bubbliest and most positive version of yourself. People and clients love confidence and to know that a model will just get stuck in without any complaints and just enjoy it.

What would be your favourite modelling job so far?

The shoot I did in Ibiza was my favourite so far: I was working with the company Perfect Moment for their S/S16 campaign who were such a great team to work with and I had so much fun whilst I was there. Also, I mean, it was Ibiza so felt super lucky to have the chance to shoot in such a incredible location.

What’s your daily skin care routine?

In the mornings I use Kiehl’s avocado eye cream to reduce puffiness under my eyes and then put on my Kiehls daily moistrizer, which completely sorts it all out. Then at night time, I use the Kiehl’s cleanser to remove my make up, then followed by the Kiehl’s microdermabrasion scrub which is the best exfoliator ever. Then I put on before bed the Kiehls midnight recovery oil which keeps my skin hydrated. So a lot of Kiehls products haha, but would highly recommend all of the above!!

Are you planning on going to any festivals this year?

I’m going to Glastonbury for the second year on the run, last year was insane so I’m super excited for that! I’m also going to Park Life in Manchester, which is one of my favourite festivals – there’s always an amazing line up especially this year!

What’s the best book you’ve read or fave film you’ve watched recently?

I’m more into documentaries than films/books, I watch Vice documentaries all the time. I find them so interesting and you learn so much about the world, I’m a bit of a geek like that!

What’s your fave food and guiltiest pleasure?

My favourite dish is almost definitely a steak with peppercorn sauce with a side of broccoli! I am actually obsessed with broccoli, I’m actually baffled why people don’t like it as much as I do haha. EAT YOUR GREENS GUYS! My guiltiest pleasure would have to be cheesecake and popcorn, obviously not together…well maybe.

yummmmmmmm.

Give us your top tips on staying healthy and looking great.

I’m going to the gym at least three times a week at the moment, but instead of doing loads of cardio on the treadmill, I’ve been going to gym classes. I think just having the guidance just helps so much more and gets you way more motivated.  I  also enjoy eating a lot of fruit and veg its not really a chore for me, I would completely advise getting your 5 a day in it just helps with energy, skin – absolutely everything!

What are your fave fashion trends and brands so far this year?

I’m a complete sucker for Comme De Garçon clothing, I’ve got my eye on the new polka dot converse they have just brought out, absolutely gorge!

What were you like at school and were you always planning on becoming a model?

I was always getting in trouble at school for been so chatty, but other than that I was quite hard working. I never thought I would be modelling especially alongside my university degree, but J’adore have, from day one, helped me massively with my progression and direction with my modelling.

What’s the biggest myth about models?

The biggest myth in the modelling industry….. That models don’t eat!! Haha pass me the cake.
