Our super sweet scouser Jenna popped in office in between castings to have a little catch up with the team. From double chins to Britain’s next top model, gorgeous Jenna left us with some seriously great tips for aspiring models!
What inspired you to become a model?
I think it was watching Victoria’s Secret’s fashion show. I know that it’s probably just standard for most models but all the girls are just absolute goals. Not just because they’re all so beautiful but they always look like they are having the most fun and I want all of that! I think once Britain’s Next Top Model finished that was my turning point, actually driving me towards a life long dream of a full time career in modelling.
What were your biggest fears about joining the industry and how do you feel now?
Measurements – obviously you can never alter your height especially after a certain age, so I had to come to terms that my passion for runway will never continue further within my career as a model and although I was gutted about this, J’adore helped me realize that the industry is changing and there is always tones of amazing work out there for a girls below 5’9″, I’m even casting for some big graduate fashion shows over the next month which I’m super excited for.
What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
ermm in what context? Does it have to be like food or… because mine would have to be Coronation Street haha! I am absolutely obsessed with it, have been since I was a kid 🙂
What are your fave fashion brands or trends this year so far?
Probably t-shirt dresses and over-knee boots, I’m lovin’ the whole lounge wear vibe at the moment, it means I can actually breath instead of wearing little skin tight tops. I think I should of been a boy to be honest I love baggy clothes and trainees.
How was the overall Britain’s Next Top Model experience?
How do I explain?…It was super tough because it wasn’t just about the modelling, having the cameras around 24/7 was so scary. You were constantly worried about saying something wrong in case they edited it differently. It sort of breaks or makes you as a model and I feel I’ve grown so much since then, not just in my modelling but within myself too.
What was the best part about BNTM?
The Cosmopolitan Fashion Fest was probably my favourite only because it was runway and I just love anything to do with runway. Meeting new people with the same passion, drive and interest in modelling has made me even more motivated. I’ve made some of my best friends from the show who get me, we all encourage each other with our individual goals. Life long friends really!
What’s your fave food?
Oh my god, can they be snacks? If so 100% Strawberry glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme, I mean I can’t deal with how great they are! If I’m not near a Kripsy Kreme, the sugar jam donuts from the good old Co-op will definitely do!
What would you advise anyone starting off or looking to become a model?
I feel like I used to be so sensitive and what I’ve learnt most if you’ve just got to let things go. Don’t overthink anything negative that anyone has to say about you because it will destroy your confidence. J’adore are great at giving me constant feedback and I feel this helps me progress in every test I do. One thing someone doesn’t like about you could be what someone else loves about you, It’s all down to opinion at the end of the day. The industry is always changing and adapting but you will always have to face judgement, you won’t be perfect or fit for every client but trust in yourself. I’m still figuring everything out myself to be honest it’s a constant journey 🙂
